2008 was undoubtedly a year of growth and the implementation of a new set of global strategies for Globex, which has always placed its clients first. Also in 2008, the implementation of a policy for solid and sustainable growth has enabled the group to accomplish goals that were once unreachable.
Among these goals was the acquisition of Fast Global Logistics in Miami, USA - an extremely important branch of Globex international strategy, as it represents the connection with North America, Central America and the Caribbean. This accomplishment enables Globex to expand its business fronts while reaching the same quality standard of services rendered throughout the continent, integrating logistics and customs clearance anywhere in all three Americas.
Also worth mentioning is the bold and ambitious project through which the new Globex Multimodal Terminal was built and implemented in the vicinities of the Viracopos International Airport in Campinas, São Paulo. Planned to be officially inaugurated in the first quarter of 2009, the new terminal boasts a 7,000 m2 storage area with a climate-controlled storage section and an innovative storage management system, designed to cope with the most diverse demands from both national and international logistics markets. With this new hub, Globex plans to increase the range of its logistics services, be it regarding storage or distribution - both domestic and international.
Furthermore, it is important to highlight the fact that Globex has just opened a new business front in the immense Asian market. In November 2008, Globex opened its first office in Shanghai, China, in response to the elevated demand of its partners and clients. With its pioneering initiative, Globex once again demonstated innovation through opening an office in China. The goal is not only to assist its clients in international logistics processes, but also to open the doors to such a remarkable market for all investors and businessmen interested in exploring the Asian market. For that purpose, Globex's office and staff are available and at the disposal of new projects and interests in that market.
Despite the extremely complex juncture, Globex Germany - our logistics hub in Europe - has shown great efficiency and perspicacity in complying with the requirements of the European market. Additionally, regardless of the current crisis, Globex Germany has displayed solid growth rates, rendering services to all countries in Central Europe, both in air and sea modalities. Reliability and respect have been the key for Globex Germany in its quest for progressively conquering the confidence of new clients.
